What is the HealthTech Foundations Scholarship?
This is a 4-week virtual programme designed to give medical students a broad, structured, and inspiring introduction to the digital health ecosystem. It combines knowledge, storytelling, expert mentorship, and practical application.
Who is this programme for?
The programme is specifically designed for medical students who are interested in digital health and innovation. There is no coding prerequisite. A “Beginner’s Primer” pack is sent upon enrollment, and the curriculum focuses on fundamental concepts like product development (Agile vs. Waterfall) and a simple understanding of AI.
What are the key learning outcomes?
Scholars will gain an understanding of the main sectors, technologies, and players in digital health; learn how clinicians engage with innovation (policy, product, entrepreneurship); and identify tangible next steps for career development.
When will the programme run and what is the time commitment?
The programme is scheduled to run for 4 weeks in late January to February (provisional dates: Jan 15th, 22nd, 29th, Feb 5th). The total commitment is approximately 10–12 hours, including 4 sessions of 2 hours each plus time for the final project.

It is delivered virtually via Microsoft Teams and includes expert talks, panels, small-group breakout discussions, polls, and mid-week "drop-in" office hours. All sessions are recorded and uploaded to the MTM Platform for rewatch.
Is there a final project?
Yes, there is a Capstone Project submitted after the four weeks. Successful completion leads to certification.
What are the benefits of completing the programme?
Scholars will gain a credentialed certificate, ongoing access to a Scholar WhatsApp Group for networking and peer support, and, for top performers, the chance to be named a ‘Distinction Scholar’ with prizes including 1-to-1 mentorship sessions and an invitation to a UK demo day.
Does the programme cover career pathways?
Yes. A key focus is exploring practical career routes, clarifying opportunities at different stages of medical training, and addressing how to maintain a clinical portfolio career while engaging with health-tech.
